------------------GENERAL AVERAGE SECURITY REQUIRED-------------------
* Further to our initial Report concerning an explosion and fire on board containership KYPARISSIA (IMO: 9618599) on 7 November 2025, we are now advised that General Average has been declared by the shipowners. Consequently, General Average security will now be required from all Cargo Interests prior to on-shipment from Tanjung Pelepas and we are likely to be able to assist in that regard.
* It is reported that due to the severity of the fire, the Malaysian authorities have ordered the vessel to move from its berth at Tanjung Pelepas to anchorage to deal with the wastewater resulting from the firefighting. We understand that the Vessel will not be allowed to return to berth and complete the discharge operation at Tanjung Pelepas until the firefighting water has been removed.
* We are seeking to retain a Fire Expert to investigate the cause of the explosion. In fact, we have already been instructed by certain Cargo Insurers and we may therefore be able to offer certain economies of scale in respect of any third party investigative costs which may need to be incurred.
* It is also likely that fire/heat/smoke and/or water damage as a result of the firefighting water will arise to cargo stowed in the vicinity of the fire. We therefore also have cargo surveyors on hand to assist with any necessary cargo surveys.
* We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.

* We have received reports that containership KYPARISSIA (IMO: 9618599), experienced an explosion and fire on board whilst unloading cargo at the Port of Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia, on 07 November 2025.
* Sadly, three people are reported to have died in the explosion, including one crewmember.
* The fire is reported to have occurred underdeck. Firefighting operations were deployed at the scene and subsequently brought the fire under control.
* It is likely that General Average/Salvage and associated Recovery issues may arise as a result of this casualty.
* We therefore recommend that you contact us if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
